Providing light, warmth and ventilation, as well as safety and security, there is no denying that windows and doors are functional necessities for any property. However, they are also instrumental in providing attractive and characterful traits.
At David H Wright, we understand that choosing the right windows and doors is key to your property’s visual appeal. From contemporary homes to traditional conservatories and orangeries, your windows and doors influence the look and image you want to portray – inside and out.
Nowhere is this more so than in historic heritage properties, listed buildings and period style homes. These highly sought-after and endearing buildings deserve to be treated with respect. So, when the time comes to replace the original, carefully crafted windows and doors, it’s important that any new additions are sympathetic to the given period.
Beautiful, bespoke and unique joinery
Whether you’re planning on renovating a heritage site or, your ageing home simply requires some TLC, it is possible to bring it into the 21st century without compromising on appearance and charm (and without a uPVC window or door in sight!). Key to achieving this is beautiful, bespoke and unique joinery, tailored not just to your exact specifications, but to the property’s too, being sympathetic to the property and its environment.
As specialists in high-quality timber joinery, our work often takes us to conservation areas where many heritage properties must conform to their original features. We’ve worked alongside the Yorkshire Conservation Trust, restoring and renovating historic heritage sites across North Yorkshire, as well as working on listed building and period style homes.
Our ability to manufacture products to an exact specification means we can adhere meticulously to the original design, no matter how intricate or ornate the detail. Our highly-skilled in-house craftsmen produce all of our products, including stunning Georgian windows and impressive, durable doors. Where required, we’ve even liaised with the appropriate conservation offices to save our clients time.
Standing the test of time
From the wood to the glass to the paint, at David H Wright, we use the best and most innovative materials the industry has to offer to ensure a successful and superior restoration project.
While we work with a vast range of timbers such as European Oak and Sapele hardwood, for us, Accoya® timber has transformed the way we work. As authorised partners for Accoya®, we love the fact that it is sustainably sourced, durable (in fact, it has the highest possible durability rating), reliable and beautiful. Did we mention that it has a lifespan of up to 70 years and is warranted for 50 years above ground and is 40% more thermally efficient than hardwoods?
Teamed with Teknos microporous paint, this is applied to our windows and doors using any colour combination from our range of paints including Farrow & Ball and Little Greene Paint Company to enhance the look of your chosen features. With paint finishes on Accoya® wood lasting up to 15 years – five times longer than conventional hardwood – you’ll see reduced maintenance costs without cutting corners.
Finally, we install efficient slim-line double glazing systems that offer all of the same benefits as standard double glazing. The good news is that they are also approved for use within conservation areas.
