David H Wright joiners at work producing wood window frames

Joinery techniques

At David H Wright we use only the highest quality material and expert joinery techniques, resulting in optimum product performance. Our highly qualified and experienced joiners combine traditional techniques with state-of-the-art technology to deliver a service that is unsurpassed by our competitors.

Bespoke design and planning

Design

For our conservatories and orangeries, we use the latest in Computer Aided Design (CAD) to assist visual planning. CAD allows us to draw up your house and proposed design to scale, so you can see what your conservatory or orangery will look like before we start the build.

Wooden window frame construction

Manufacture

Our in-house joiners handcraft all our products. We utilize traditional techniques with the aid of accurate machinery to produce consistent quality.

We use a variety of different joining techniques including mortise and tenon joints (the most common, known for its simplicity and strength) and finger joints (known for its superior strength due to its long-grain to long-grain contact and its aesthetic).

We finish all our products using a tri-coating system where we apply a base coat and two top coats of TEKNOS microporous paint or stain. This ensures a smooth and complete finish of the highest quality.

Finishing techniques for our wood window frames

Joinery finishes

All our windows are painted using the Teknos Micro Porous Paint System at our premises at Sherburn-in-Elmet, Near Leeds in the heart of Yorkshire.

We supply 1 primer coat and 2 additional coloured coats that can be any colour or combination that is available from the selection of Farrow & Ball, Little Greene Paint Company, Heritage colour Schemes, Traditional British Standards and RAL colours.

At David H Wright we use only the highest quality finishes from Teknos. Teknos’ microporous paint combines preservation technology with flawless finishes to produce the latest in European performance standards. Treating our timber in this fashion not only means we have an extensive range of British Standard Colours but we can also offer up to 10-years guarantee on our Teknos paint finishes.
Teknos finishes are not only superior in protection but are also water based and environmentally sensitive.

We pre-finish all our products which means no finishing is done onsite; saving you time and hassle.
